Business analytics in brief

Business analytics uses data to make better business decisions: which market to enter, how to price a product, where to cut costs, which customers to keep. It sits between the business and the data team. A business analyst frames the problem, finds and analyses the right data, and turns the answer into a recommendation managers can act on.

Compared with a pure data analytics course, this one spends more time on the business side: KPIs and frameworks, forecasting and what-if scenarios, requirement gathering and documentation, and presenting a recommendation. You still learn the tools hands-on (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau and a little Python), but always in service of a decision.

Data science vs data analytics vs business analytics

The three fields share tools and are often confused in job titles. The simplest way to tell them apart is by the question each one answers.

Which should you choose? If you are new to data, start with Data Analytics: it is the foundation the other two build on. Choose Business Analytics if you enjoy the business side and want to influence decisions. Choose Data Science if you like programming and maths and want to build predictive models.

Why business analytics skills matter in Riyadh

Riyadh is the centre of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 transformation: ministries, the giga-project developers, banks and many regional headquarters are based here, with the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) as a major business hub. Government digitisation, fintech and AI programmes have made developers and data professionals some of the most sought-after hires in the city.

Who hires in Riyadh

  • Government and Vision 2030 programmes

Ministries, authorities and giga-project developers building digital services and data platforms.
  • Banking and fintech

Banks in KAFD and Olaya plus licensed fintechs building payments and lending products.
  • Regional headquarters

International companies that have moved regional HQs to Riyadh.
  • Telecoms and retail

Large telecom operators and retail groups with big customer datasets.

Saudi context you will work with

Generic courses use generic datasets, and interviewers notice. Our exercises include:

  • SAR pricing and 15% Saudi VAT in invoice data
  • E-invoicing (Fatoora) concepts in sales datasets
  • Arabic-first, right-to-left (RTL) layouts and Arabic NLP
  • Sunday–Thursday working week and Hijri dates in time-based analysis
  • Data-protection basics under the Saudi PDPL

How to choose the right Business Analytics track

Your backgroundStart withWhy
MBA / BBA / commerce graduateFull courseBusiness sense is the core skill here
Working manager or team leadWeekend trackLearn to commission and challenge analysis, not just read it
Data analystForecasting and business-analysis modulesMove from building reports to making recommendations
Engineer moving to business rolesFull courseAdd business framing to your analytical skills
Wants to build ML modelsData Science courseThat course goes much deeper into machine learning

Common pairings: Business Analytics + Data Analytics (for deeper SQL and BI skills), Business Analytics + SAP FICO or MM (for ERP-focused business analyst roles), and Business Analytics + Data Science (to add predictive modelling). Learn one course well before adding a second.

From course to first role: a realistic path

  1. Master the business and data foundations before moving on.

  2. Build and publish your projects, including the Riyadh capstone.

  3. Apply for entry roles such as business analyst or business intelligence analyst with employers like the government and vision 2030 programmes above.

Honest note: freshers usually start in junior or trainee roles, and salaries in Riyadh vary too widely for a headline figure. Ask us which openings we are seeing.

Business Analytics certification: what we cover and what we issue

Relevant optional certifications include the IIBA Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA) and Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) for business-analysis practice, and Microsoft PL-300 for Power BI. They are paid directly to IIBA or Microsoft and are not part of our fee; the course covers the relevant knowledge areas. SoftPro9 issues a course completion certificate.

What to check before choosing a Business Analytics institute in Riyadh

  • A 2026 syllabus: look for Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Jira, Confluence, not only the basics.

  • Projects on your own accounts, a trainer you can meet first, and a published fee with nothing hidden.

  • No "global certification" or "100% placement" claims: vendors run their own exams, and nobody can promise a job.

How our Business Analytics classes work

  • Taught from Bangalore

Classes are taught live by the same trainers who teach our Bangalore classroom, streamed to Riyadh in AST (Saudi).
  • Live, with recordings and reviews

Live sessions in AST (Saudi), recordings for revision, and project reviews from the trainer. Excel, Power BI, Tableau Public, a cloud SQL database and business case datasets.
  • Interview preparation

Mock interviews, resume reviews and referrals to Riyadh and remote openings we hear about. We do not guarantee a job.
